Dr. Rachelle Sender

Elected Community Physician

Dr. Rachelle (Shelly) Sender is a community family physician in Dundas. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, the Medical Director of the regional Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre, and a member of the Hamilton Shelter Health Network.

Dr. Sender is a graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School and completed her residency in Family Medicine at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto. Prior to medical school, she obtained a PhD in Biology from the University of Waterloo, completed a Medical Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh, and worked for both the Ontario and Federal governments in the field of occupational health.  Dr. Sender also had a brief stint as a venture capitalist and founded and directed the non-profit Women Inventors Project.

Dr. Sender was elected to the FMAH Board in 2006.
